In recent years, the Macao SAR Government has been committed to promoting the smart city development strategy, and by using technology and optimising processes the coverage of e-government has been increased to facilitate residents to communicate with government departments, learn about public facilities and apply for public services through electronic channels. This will be further extended to commercial enterprises and associations, to enhance the convenience and efficiency of handling economic and livelihood activities. In terms of smart tourism, the use of cloud computing and the application of big data and other technologies will bring convenience to tourists, the tourism industry and the public. The aim is to minimise the impact on scenic spots and citizens while developing tourism. Under the general trend of electronic and intelligent development of public and private services, other industries are also gradually introducing smart technologies, and the demand for talents of relevant technologies is bound to increase.
In order to meet the needs of the development of the new era, the Centre for Continuing Education of the Macao Polytechnic University has launched the "Technology and Engineering Application Series", including the following courses:

"Digital Transformation: Practice and Application" (Cantonese)
Aims to enable participants to learn how enterprises can use information technology and related human resources realignment to integrate innovation and creativity as part of digital transformation to achieve sustainable development. By understanding the changes that digital transformation will bring to operations; the tools, methodologies and key techniques of digital transformation; the importance of human resources and corporate culture to successful digital transformation; and how to deploy effective digital transformation solutions, enterprises will be better equipped to cope with the rapidly changing market environment in the future.
"Big Data and Industrial Application" (Cantonese)
Introduces data technology and analysis methods, the application of big data analysis and market strategy in various industries, understands how big data analysis can assist organizations in making strategic decisions, and conducts case studies with the application of big data in the industry. The "Big Data Analysis and Industrial Application (Advance Level)" course aims to enhance students' understanding of big data analysis and the ability to analyse and apply big data while learning the basic principles of data analysis and application, basic statistical analysis and practice and different data analysis models, and also introducing the industrial application of big data analysis.
"Smart Tourism Development and Application" (Cantonese)
Aims to guide participants to understand the principles and development of smart tourism. The course will introduce the basic knowledge of the concept of smart tourism information technology, smart tourism systems and application scenarios, etc., and introduce the development of smart tourism, tourism analysis and practice, and the sustainable development prospects of smart tourism in Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through case studies.
