MPI Received APQN Quality Award with its teaching quality being recognised internationally
The representatives of Macao Polytechnic Institute attended the annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) held in Moscow, Russia in late May and MPI was awarded the APQN’s Best/Model Internal Quality Assurance Award. This is the second time since 2015; MPI, the first higher education institution in Hong Kong and Macao to receive this international award, was again awarded the APQN Quality Award and it gives glory to Macao.
At the ceremony, Professor Zhang Jianxin, President of APQN, spoke highly of MPI’s efforts in teaching and research quality assurance, and acknowledged and commended MPI on its good practices in academic quality assurance. Ms. Linda Lei, Head of Student Affairs of MPI expressed her gratitude towards APQN on recognising MPI’s efforts in quality assurance. MPI is very honoured to be awarded the APQN Best Internal Quality Assurance Award. The award recognises the efforts devoted by MPI in the field of quality assurance. With the great support from the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and all walks of life, MPI was awarded again the APQN Quality Awards. Currently, the majority of MPI programmes have already undergone successful professional/academic accreditation by authoritative academic review agencies from the UK, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other regions in which the teaching quality has met the international higher education institution standards. MPI will continue to strengthen its quality assurance endeavours, provide an excellent learning environment to students and commit itself to nurturing well-rounded international talents for Macao.
APQN is the largest and most influential international organisation in the Asia-Pacific region in the field of quality assurance in higher education. More than 190 institutions and organisations from 38 countries and regions are members of APQN, including the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA) of Australia, Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities and the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).
MPI has long upheld the principles of student-centeredness and quality teaching, endeavouring to continuously improve teaching and learning quality. Since 2011, MPI has started passing programme accreditation/validation of its bachelor degree programmes by accreditation agencies of international standing and professional organisations. In 2014, MPI has successfully passed an Institutional Review by the Quality Assurance Agency, UK, becoming the first higher education institution in Macao with a successful international Institutional Review. In addition, MPI holds an international conference on teaching and learning quality assurance in higher education every year to keep abreast of the latest development in the field of quality assurance and learn the good practices of institutions worldwide in order to continuously optimise the quality assurance system.
