MPI Postgraduate Programmes Cultivate Professionals to Serve Macao and the Greater Bay Area

With the support of the Macao SAR Government, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) offers a number of Master’s and doctoral programmes so as to enrich the talent pool for the development of the international innovation hub in the Greater Bay Area as well as of Macao as “One Centre, One Platform and One Base”. These programmes provide Macao people with quality postgraduate education and facilitate exchange among outstanding young people from Macao, the Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-speaking countries in fields such as Portuguese Language and Translation, Gaming and Tourism Management, Information Technology, Arts and Creativity, Public Policy, and Nursing.

Postgraduate admission at MPI for the 2020/2021 academic year has just ended. The number of applications reached a record high, the applicants coming from the world’s top 100 universities, “Double First Class” universities in the Chinese mainland as well as renowned universities from Portuguese-speaking countries. MPI stated that the postgraduate programmes are committed to serving Macao’s integration into the national development plan. It is anticipated that these programmes and their students can contribute to promoting innovative development in the cultivation of Chinese-Portuguese bilingual professionals, the construction of a smart city, and the enhancement of the cultural and creative industries.

In addition, MPI offers joint postgraduate programmes in collaboration with partners at home and abroad, such as the University of Lisbon, University of Coimbra, Beijing Language and Culture University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University of Sport, and the Chinese Academy of Governance. These programmes aim to provide Macao people with learning opportunities with relevance to Macao’s role as a Sino-Lusophone platform as well as the development of the Greater Bay Area.
