Macao Orchestra Held its First University Concert at MPI, Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of Beethoven’s Birthday

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, the Macao Orchestra held its first university concert of this season at the Macao Polytechnic Institute. The Macao Orchestra played the masterpieces of Beethoven and attracted over a hundred teachers and students to attend the concert. Mr. Kan Pak Kin conducted the concert and guided teachers and students to appreciate the music. Students were benefited a lot by deepening their understanding of classical music and learning about Beethoven’s legendary life.

Ms Chen, student of the Bachelor of Arts in Music programme said that she was very delighted to attend the concert.  It was a valuable learning experience to feel the enthusiasm and love of music from the performance of the Macao Orchestra. She looks forward to participating in the same activities in future. Ms Lu, student of the same Music programme benefited from the conductor's explanation and learned how to appreciate music performance skills and the story behind the movement. Another student, Mr Feng of the same Music programme, expressed his gratitude towards the Institute for arranging the concert. He said that through Mr. Kan’s introduction, his understanding of Beethoven has greatly increased. In this special year, he was very happy to enjoy such a wonderful performance.

The co-organiser of the concert, the Student Affairs Office stated that Macao Polytechnic Institute is committed to cultivating arts professionals and promoting the development of the local cultural and creative industry. The Institute always supports and appreciates the Macao Orchestra for bringing a professional performance to teachers and students, and expects that artistic activities such as the concert, can enhance the all-round development of students, enrich students’ campus lives, improve their refinements and cultivate high-quality talents for Macao.
