MPI Held Lunch Choral Salon to infuse the Campus with Positivity

MPI Music Programme students present performances in lunch choral salon

To deepen the cultural and artistic environment in the campus, create a relaxing and joyful learning environment, and to promote the healthy growth of students, the Student Affairs Office of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) organized the Lunch Choral Salon in the lobby of Meng Tak Building at the institute. The event was held to infuse positive energy into the campus and to demonstrate the results of the teaching singing to the audience. Everyone enjoyed the warm and lively atmosphere of the show.

The choir members are Year 2 and Year 3 students of the Bachelor of Music programme from the School of Arts in MPI. The piano accompanist is Ms. Wong Chi Yan, a Year 3 student of the programme, while the Music Programme co-ordinator, Associate Professor Ms Maria Vanessa Leão, is the conductor. Six songs in different languages including Latin, English and Mandarin were performed during the show. The songs were combined with western elements and Chinese folk songs, bringing a happy blend of East and West. Ms Leão said that the choral salon provided a platform for students to showcase their voices and also showcased the teaching achievements of the choir at the same time. The songs chosen this time were mostly lively and inspirational, which aimed to diffuse a sense of positivity, soothe emotions, cultivate temperament, illuminate the light and cherish lives.

MPI is dedicated to training artistic talent and promoting the development of Macau's cultural and creative industries. The Student Affairs Office hopes to raise students’ interest in music through the Lunch Choral Salon, and to promote the learning of the aesthetic sense among the five core areas. In addition, it is also about creating a relaxing and happy learning environment, enriching students’ school life and enhancing the healthy physical and mental development of students.
