The second special issue of “Orientes do Português” is officially launched

The second issue of the Portuguese International Academic Journal “Orientes do Português”, co-founded by the Macao Polytechnic Institute and the University of Porto in Portugal, is now officially available online (http://orientes-do-portugues.ipm.edu.mo). The editors welcome all Chinese and Portuguese experts, teachers and students of higher education institutions, and other interested parties to access the above the mentioned website for free. This issue contains a wide range of entries, including articles from well-known Lusophone and Chinese universities such as the University of Porto in Portugal, the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Sun Yat-sen University, Macao Polytechnic Institute, as well as from the world’s top universities such as University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The contributions from academic scholars show that the academic influence of this journal is expanding, and that the influence of the research results of Chinese and Portuguese scholars on the international scale is increasing day by day.

The second issue of “Orientes do Português” is a special issue to commemorate the late master of Portuguese linguistics, Professor João Malaca Casteleiro (1936-2020). Professor Malaca served as an academician of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences and the head of the Department of Portuguese Language and Culture in the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. At the same time, as an academic consultant of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, he maintained close academic cooperation with the institute for a long time. For example, the series of textbooks “Português Global” was compiled and published in cooperation for ten years between the Macao Polytechnic Institute and the University of Lisbon under the academic guidance of Professor Malaca. In addition, Professor Malaca served as a member of the academic committee of this journal, provided a great deal of valuable guidance both before and after the journal was founded, and made important contributions to the successful establishment of the journal.

Orientes do Português” is jointly published by the Centre for Portuguese Studies of Macao Polytechnic Institute and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto in Portugal. It is published in Portuguese and is aimed at studying Portuguese language and culture. It is the first high-quality Portuguese international academic journal in Asia. The journal strictly follows international academic review standards such as double-blind review, and the academic committee has a strong lineup, with dozens of internationally renowned experts and scholars from Portugal, Britain, Italy and Mozambique. The journal’s call for papers covers a wide range of fields, including Portuguese linguistics, second language teaching, translation studies, Lusophone countries’ culture, history, literature, art, and many other fields.

In order to promote the sharing of academic resources and efficiently promote the academic achievements of Portuguese language and related fields, the “Orientes do Português” is issued as an electronic journal (e-ISSN: 2707-3130). Currently, the call for papers for the upcoming third issue is underway and ends on August 31. Portuguese speaking scholars from China, Lusonphone countries and all over the world are welcome to actively submit manuscripts and work together to continuously enrich the academic research results of Portuguese and related fields.
