MPI Staff and Students Get Vaccinated Against the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia

Macao Polytechnic Institute staff and students get vaccinated

In order to establish a collective immunity barrier on campus, the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI), being the second institution of higher education to participate in the Macao SAR Government’s outreach vaccination programme, organised a mass vaccination campaign for its staff and students against the new coronavirus pneumonia on 6 May 2021. An outreach medical team was dispatched to the MPI campus to vaccinate those eligible to receive the fully sponsored vaccines, including students, alumni, staff, and family members of the Institute’s staff who hold Macao resident cards. Complying with the government’s epidemic prevention measures and responding to its public appeal to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, approximately 600 MPI students and staff have already been inoculated either on campus or at one of the three vaccination sessions at the Macao Health Bureau specially reserved for the Macao Polytechnic Institute.

Having been vaccinated, Professor Yeung took a rest under observation as per the instructions of the medical staff. He said we should remain vigilant as always, maintain good personal hygiene, and carry out daily activities in accordance with the epidemic prevention guidelines, so as to ensure the safety and health of ourselves and others. An MPI student, Mr. Chan, said that it was convenient to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on campus. During the summer vacation, he often goes to the mainland for academic exchange and decided to get vaccinated to protect himself and others. Another MPI student, Miss Lam, said that the vaccines were safe and effective and vaccination was an effective way to prevent the novel coronavirus pneumonia. When most people in the community have received the COVID-19 vaccines, they can then form a collective immunity barrier of a certain level and reduce the spread of infection. Therefore, it was advisable to get vaccinated. The arrangement of the MPI outreach vaccination campaign was smooth and orderly. There were instructions in each designated area. From appointment to vaccination and explanations given by the on-site medical staff, all were efficient and clear.
