MPI students Obtain Successful Results in the “PSC Test and Cultural Expedition”

MPI students participated in the "PSC Test and Cultural Mandarin Training and Cultural Trip" to raise their Mandarin level
MPI students visited famous scenic spots in Beijing to experience Chinese history and culture.

To enrich the academic experiences of university students, deepen their knowledge of Chinese history and culture, and promote cultural exchange among students from Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) actively co-operates with various higher education institutions in Mainland China to carry out the “Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China Teachers and Students Exchange Scheme (Ten Thousand People's Scheme)”. Recently, 12 MPI students went to Beijing to participate in the “PSC Test and Cultural Expedition” organised by the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), with the aim of raising students’ Putonghua level through a series of courses and deepening their knowledge of the history and culture of Beijing. All students benefited greatly from the trip.

Ms. Chan, a student of the International Chinese Language Education Programme, said that this exchange activity was of great significance. Under the guidance of the teachers of BLCU, her Putonghua pronunciation was corrected and she felt as if she had made great progress in a short period of time. She also mentioned that besides studying, she visited the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the National Museum, etc. All these gave her a deeper understanding of Beijing as well as of Chinese culture. She hopes to have more opportunities to participate in exchange activities organised by MPI in the future. Mr. Cheong, a student of the Social Work Programme, stated that through this event, he was able to learn the richness and depth of the Chinese language and culture, and he was confident that, in the future, he would be able to develop and transmit the excellence of Chinese culture. Besides learning the language, he also learned Chinese calligraphy, kite-making and visited ancient buildings, thus gaining a better understanding of the long and glorious history of our motherland.

Macao Polytechnic Institute has been committed to training young talents to love China and Macao. Over the years, it has maintained a close relationship with higher education institutions in Mainland China, actively organised activities to provide university students with exchanges and learning opportunities in different provinces and cities in China, so as to enhance their knowledge of the country. This year, through the "Ten Thousand People's Scheme", several groups of MPI students have travelled to Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Jiangsu, Hubei and other provinces and cities to participate in the exchange activities organized with other Mainland China's higher education institutions. The aim of the programme is to cultivate a sense of belonging to the motherland among university students, promote cultural exchanges between Macao and Mainland China, as well as to actively integrate into the overall development of the country.
