CATTI tests will be held in November
Registration is now open at MPI

CATTI tests will be held in November, registration is now opened at Macao Polytechnic Institute

The China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters (CATTI) is a state-level translation professional qualification certification implemented in China for the general public. It sets out to evaluate the bilingual competence and proficiency of the candidates in interpretation or translation. It is the only language-related test included in China's national vocational qualification system. Its translation qualification certificate is jointly issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China and the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. It is widely recognized in the job market and has become the most popular certification among industry professionals and college students majoring in translation and interpreting studies.

On 25 March 2021, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) signed a cooperation agreement with the CATTI Project Management Center of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. Pursuant to this agreement, MPI officially established the CATTI test site, being the first institute to host the tests in Hong Kong and Macao. The first exam was successfully held in June this year. It is believed that such an achievement will play a positive role in promoting the CATTI tests both in Hong Kong and Macao and will further enhance the development of the quality of translation professionals in Macao. Meanwhile, the test site will serve candidates across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to the arrangements by CATTI Project Management Center, the MPI test site will provide English-Chinese translation and interpreting tests, which will be held from 13 to 14 November  2021 simultaneously with the Mainland.  To find out more about the CATTI tests, interested parties are welcome to join the online information session, in which students from the School of Languages and Translation who have obtained the CATTI certificates will share their exam experience.  The session details are:
