MPU Students visit enterprises to develop career diversification
MPU Students visit hotel rooms and internal areas of employeesMacao Polytechnic University (MPU) organises a series of activities known as “Career Exploration Field Trips” to enable students to understand industry trends and the talent demands for the society's development, as well as to enhance students’ competitiveness. Recently, a group of students visited Studio City Macau to promote interaction and connection with the enterprises and broaden their career horizons through observations and exchanges. Through this, students can plan their development direction as early as possible according to their own characteristics and interests, and establish a solid foundation for their future participation in the job market.
The activity attracted participation from undergraduates and postgraduates from different majors. Students visited hotel rooms and internal areas for employees, including learning spaces, self-expression spaces, roadshow venues and so on, to gain a better understanding of the management model and working environment of a large enterprise. Chen, a Master's student in Business Administration, said the visit was very exciting and meaningful. The most profound impression was that the mural at the employees’ entrance is similar to the countdown to the filming of a movie, reminding each employee that once they step into the workplace, they are an essential part of the “film” and have to play their role well on the “stage”. Zhang, a student from Chinese-English Translation and Interpretation, said that the event broadened her view of the sector and she considered that the patient explanations from the staff provided her with practical suggestions for planning future career directions. What she admired most is that the company stimulates its employees to develop diversity, encourages professional attempts at different jobs, and explores more possibilities for the future development of their professional careers.
MPU attaches great importance to cultivating students in both professional knowledge and practical skills, and is dedicated to strengthening the overall capacity and competitiveness of students through diversified means. The Student Affairs Office of MPU has actively built an exchange platform between enterprises and the University. The “Career Exploration Field Trips” activity series allows students to leave the classroom, interact with enterprises and learn about the development and needs of the sectors, in order to guide them to explore different possibilities, thus contributing to the talent expansion for Macau.
