Scholarship Fund of MOP2,880,000 Set up by Ho Chun Kei Charity Association at MPU to Nurture Talent in the Research and Development Industry

Ho Chun Kei Charity Association donates MOP2,880,000 to MPU Scholarships

In order to nurture outstanding talents in the research and development industry in Macao, the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and Ho Chun Kei Charity Association have jointly established the “Mr. Ho Chun Scholarship”, which provides a scholarship fund of MOP 2,880,000 to outstanding students of the MPU PhD programme in Computer Applied Technology. The signing ceremony of the scholarship donation was held at MPU Lecture Theatre on May 11.  The agreement was signed by Mr. Ho Ka Lon, Chairman of Ho Chun Kei Charity Association, and Prof. Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU; meanwhile, a cheque was presented to Prof. Im Sio Kei by Mr. Ho Ka Lon.

At the signing ceremony of the agreement, Prof. Im Sio Kei expressed his thanks to Ho Chun Kei Charity Association for its strong support for higher education. He said that the establishment of the “Mr. Ho Chun Scholarship” will help PhD students in Computer Applied Technology to attain greater achievements in learning and scientific research so as to contribute to the development of science and technology in Macao. He hoped that students would take advantage of the new era and new opportunities created by the construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and actively integrate into national development. Prof. Im also expected the students to make use of the innovative wisdom of high-end talents in science and technology in order to develop an international innovation and technology hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a technological innovation and transformation centre, and promote Mr. Ho Chun's spirit of “loving the motherland and loving Macao”, as well as his passion for public welfare and care for the community.

Mr. Ho Ka Lon said that as a technological innovation corridor in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Macao has always been committed to the development of the science and technology industry. To implement the policy of “Education-driven Prosperity for Macao” and “Building Macao by Capable Talents”, support Macao's youth to further integrate into national development, facilitate the implementation of the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and promote the strategic role of Macao as “One Center, One Platform and One Base”,  MPU and Ho Chun Kei Charity Association have jointly established the "Mr. Ho Chun Scholarship" to strengthen the cultivation of outstanding professional talents in science and technology. The scholarship will greatly contribute to the development of both the national and Macao's economy, society and technology, and reserve more talents for the future of Macao.
