"Art Talent Development Programme" Jointly Organised by MPU and Sands China to Cultivate Talents Together

Achievement Sharing Meeting of Art Talent Development Programme has been held
The Rector of Macao Polytechnic University, Im Sio Kei, the President of Sands China Ltd, Wilfred Wong, and the President of the Board of the Macao Polytechnic University Alumni Association, Wong U Kei, award the certificates to the students participating in the programme

To improve students' practical ability, strengthen their expertise, and show their talents in the art field, Macao Polytechnic University, Sands China and the MPU Alumni Association jointly launched the "Art Talent Development Programme", and the "Achievement Sharing Meeting" of the programme was held on 7th June to show the creative achievements of MPU students. The Rector of Macao Polytechnic University, Im Sio Kei, the President of Sands China Ltd, Wilfred Wong, and the President of the Board of the Macao Polytechnic University Alumni Association, Wong U Kei, among others, were present at the event and awarded the certificates to the students participating in the programme.

In his speech, Wilfred Wong said that Sands China has always been committed to cultivating local talents with its own resources and was very happy to witness the successful completion of the Art Talent Development Programme. He also thanked MPU and the MPU Alumni Association for their strong support. He added that the programme allowed students to create in the actual working environment, which would help them to further enrich their creative thinking and develop their creative skills, and also make use of their strengths to contribute to building Macao into a world tourism and leisure centre.

Im Sio kei said that MPU offered undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes covering multiple disciplines to cultivate applied talents. He sincerely thanked Sands China for providing the participants an opportunity to show their talents, and thanked the Alumni Association for their coordination and support, so that the students and graduates can accumulate practical experience and apply what they have learned. He added that MPU would consider offering programmes in the field of digital media application technology, with a view to building a multidisciplinary system and cultivating more art and design talents in line with social development.

Wong U Kei said that students could learn about the operation of various industries and the requirements of employers for employees through the non-traditional learning platform provided by local enterprises, and this would enhance students' comprehensive abilities and help them adapt to the needs of the economy and society, thus achieving the goal of mutual learning and whole-person development through two-way communication. It is hoped that the programme will encourage all sectors to create a platform to showcase the talents and capabilities of young people interested in developing local industries, thus enabling a new generation to make positive contributions to Macao, the Great Bay Area and the country.

Zhang Tinglong, a student of the Design Programme, said at the sharing session that the programme not only enabled him to practice the knowledge gained from the classroom, but also made him better understand the spirit of cooperation and the skill of collaboration. In addition to broadening his horizons, the programme also let him know that only through practical project practice can he connect knowledge and create a work of great style. He hoped there would be more opportunities to exchange and learn from experts and professionals in different fields in the future. Lei Hin Kei, vice president of the MPU Alumni Association and one of the programme's supervisors, thanked MPU for providing diversified talent cultivation, Sands China for providing the platform for practice, and all the efforts of the MPU Alumni Association to guide the students to complete the project and show their creative achievements. After the sharing session, the students introduced their works and creative ideas to the guests.

Also present at the Achievement Sharing Meeting were: Wen Hongyan, Senior Vice President of Human Resources; Sam Chong Nin, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Affairs; Cheong Kuok Kuan, Vice President of Human Resources; Isabella Che, Director of Human Resources of Sands China Ltd; Lai Ming Hoi, Acting Dean of Faculty of Arts and Design; Lai Mei Kei, Programme Coordinator of Design Programme; Yuen Fung Lin, Margaret, Assistant Programme Coordinator of Design Programme; Lao Weng Ian, Head of Student Affairs Office of MPU; Chau Hong Cheng and Lao Ka Chon, Vice Presidents; Tsang Hin Lai, Executive Director; and Wong Chong Chong and Tam Weng Kei, Board members of MPU Alumni Association; as well as other MPU students and alumni.
