MPU students gather to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival

To inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture and promote the harmonious atmosphere of multicultural coexistence on campus, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held the mooncake workshop and celebration activities during the Mid-Autumn Festival. MPU students enjoyed the strong festive atmosphere, to continue the traditional Mid-Autumn customs of "Reunion", "Missing Family" and "Blessings", in the meantime, to enhance students’ sense of patriotism and national cohesion.

At the Mid-Autumn Festival, MPU students gathered to celebrate the festival and enhance friendships among peers. The campus was full of traditional festive atmosphere. The round moon cake not only is an indispensable traditional food for the Mid-Autumn Festival but also represents the profound meaning of family reunion. Students who participated in the mooncake workshop have learned the making skills and completed their own hand-made moon cakes under professional guidance. Ms Wu, a student of the design programme, made moon cakes for the first time, which allowed her to experience the cultural connotation of the Mid-Autumn Festival and learn the essence of traditional Chinese culture. In addition, the festive lanterns and lantern riddles game are prepared for students. Under a warm and pleasant atmosphere, students held rabbit-shaped lanterns and colorful lanterns to take photos in front of the Mid-Autumn festival blessing wall, to send greetings to their elders and families and share happiness on this festival of the full moon. Students who participated in the activity said that it was a special feeling to celebrate the festival with peers. They enjoyed the joyful atmosphere in these well-designed campus activities and thus experienced the deep meaning of the Mid-Autumn Festival reunion.

Through organising diversified activities, particularly Chinese festive activities as the link of traditional culture, it enhances students’ understanding and perception of the long history of China, to inherit the splendid Chinese heritage and traditional virtues, as to educate talents with both ability and morality.
