MPU Welcomes Over Two Thousand New Students to Unleash Youthful Energy for a Future of Creativity
At the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year, Macao Polytechnic University buzzes with a lively atmosphere as 2,200 new undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral students from Macao, the Greater Bay Area, various regions across China, as well as Portuguese-speaking countries and other international areas commence their studies. The university hosts a series of new student orientation activities under the theme “Be Young ‧ Be Ingenious” aiming to enhance students’ patriotism, promote their physical and mental growth, facilitate holistic development, and empower them to showcase their talents and potential as they strive forward.
During several “Be Young ‧ Be Ingenious” orientation sessions, the Vice-President of MPU, Lei Ngan Lin, welcomed the new students, encouraging them to embark on their learning journey, pursue excellence, explore innovation and unleash their talents as they progress in their academic and personal growth. The orientation events were enriching, including interactive seminars introducing the Constitution and Basic Law to new students in an engaging manner. Representatives from the Student Affairs Office, the Registry, the Information Technology Department, the University Library, and the Campus Maintenance and Development Office introduced the exciting campus life, student services, campus information and facilities, rules and regulations, and other activities, thereby fostering active exchange and a pleasant atmosphere. Those who attended the orientation expressed their excitement for the new academic year: embarking on a new chapter of personal growth, being eager to explore their interests and talents, growing alongside their teachers and peers, harnessing their strengths, and embracing the opportunities for national development.
The Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University organises diverse orientation activities for each new academic year, including flag-raising ceremonies, a Soul Recharge Station, solidarity events, career planning seminars, and the Charitable Fellowship Programme and Service Learning Scheme, and actively collaborates with various government departments in Macao to organise the Crime Prevention Week. These initiatives aim to strengthen students’ patriotism as well as their overall abilities and moral character, and so contributes to a harmonious campus and community atmosphere, making meaningful contributions to the development of the country and Macao.
