Macao Polytechnic University invites Professor Shirai Takashi at Musashino Art University in Japan to give an online lecture
Faculty of Arts and Design of Macao Polytechnic University recently invited Professor Shirai Keisei, Visual Communication Design at Musashino Art University in Japan, to hold an online lecture namely "Language and Physicality in Design: Space, Composition, and Structure." Students and the public actively participated. In the lecture, Professor Shirai Keisei vividly taught how to combine theory and practice through many design works. He also explained the composition and structure of design space and its relationship with human, focusing on publication design. He pointed out that design should not only be based on history, but also cultivate superb modeling techniques, and the unique feeling of human is closely related to the structure of design. He also encouraged the students to actively engage in theoretical and historical researches while studying and practicing. After the lecture, MPU teachers, students and the public actively asked questions and had lively discussions with Professor Shirai Keisei. The student, Ms. Xu said that through the professor's sharing, she gained a new understanding of the text typography, and understood the shape characteristics behind text typography in simple and easy ways, and at the same time, deepened her understanding of the grid operating system, enforced design foundation for her future studies. Professor Shirai Keisei is an internationally renowned graphic designer who is actively in the forefront of Japanese design. He has engaged in the text design of exhibition promotional materials, catalogs, books, magazines, etc. including Art Director of the design magazine "idea" from 2005 to 2015, the 2013 "Jan Chishold" exhibition at Ginza GGG, the 2013 "Adanori Yokoo: Complete Book Designs", the 2019 "Grid System (Japanese)" Edition)》etc. |
