MPU FAD Holds Lecture to Explore the Development of Classical Art
To enhance academic cooperation and exchange in the field of arts in the Greater Bay Area, the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) hosted an online lecture on “Contemporary Understanding of Classical Art,” featuring Professor Liu Ke, Vice Dean of the Painting Art College of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and Director of the Oil Painting Department, as the keynote speaker. The lecture received enthusiastic responses.
During the lecture, Liu Ke provided a detailed discussion on the learning development of visual arts students, with rich content and materials, exploring the deep-seated factors of the occurrence and development of classical art in the context of contemporary art's objective reality. This discourse helped students understand the current situation of Western traditional art and contemporary art, contemplate the direction of art development, and offer professional theoretical guidance. Participating students expressed that the lecture, with its graphic and textual analysis and professional interactive format, clearly addressed the theoretical challenges and practical situations encountered in artistic creation learning, leading to lively exchanges.
The MPU Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts Programme is committed to promoting cultural cooperation and exchange between Eastern and Western art, encouraging students to integrate theory with practice through teaching. The program actively showcases learning outcomes, inherits the spirit of traditional culture, and cultivates artistic talents with both cultural literacy and innovative spirit.
