MPU Hosts "Bless the Motherland, Create a Better Tomorrow" Cultural Evening

Macao Polytechnic University recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the Macao Special Administrative Region with a cultural evening event on October 9th. Nearly 400 students, alumni, and community members participated, offering their blessings to the motherland and Macao with joy and celebration.

The “Bless the Motherland, Create a Better Tomorrow” Cultural Evening was inaugurated by Li Yongxian, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Department from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Teng Sio Hong, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR; Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU; Cheok Pui U, President of MPU Student Union; and Liu Kun Him, President of the MPU Alumni Association. Im Sio Kei emphasised that the University's role in fostering talent for Macao and the nation, and contributing to various sectors of society; as they stand at a new development stage, young students should seize current opportunities, align with the country’s new momentum and advantages for high-quality development, closely follow the social development of Macao, and work together to create a bright future for the nation and Macao.

The Cultural Evening was divided into five parts, showcasing the remarkable changes in the motherland and Macao through various performances. These included the first part “The Beginning”, featuring a lion dance that demonstrated the rich connotations of the Chinese national spirit; the second part “The Road to Return,” with students singing the “Song of Seven Sons” and the “Song of Macao” and performing Portuguese folk dances, highlighting Macao as an exchange and cooperation base with Chinese culture as the mainstream and the coexistence of multiple cultures; the third part “Glorious Moments,” where Chinese and Portuguese-speaking country students sang “Descendants of the Dragon,” and martial arts were performed by world champion Sou Cho Man and other world competition award winners, showcasing the promotion of Chinese traditional culture and the glorious achievements of national development; the fourth part “Light of the Future,” featuring fancy rope skipping to display the vitality of the motherland, and Kuaiban folk performance to encourage young people to strive forward with the support of the motherland; and the final part “We, Chinese,” with alumni singers and the entire audience singing “Ode to the Motherland,” expressing sincere blessings to the motherland.

On the afternoon of October 9th, the opening ceremony of the “Macao Polytechnic University Members and Students Learning about National Situation Photo Exhibition” was held at the exhibition gallery of MPU’s main campus. This exhibition displayed the achievements of the university members and students’ love for the motherland and Macao, and their participation in national construction work. It aimed to deepen the patriotism of the students and young people from various sectors, to inspire growth, and to encourage all to contribute their strengths and actively engage in the nation’s construction and development. The exhibition will run until the end of this month.
