MPU FAD Holds the “Media, Communication or Permaculture” Seminar
To broaden the artistic horizons of teachers and students and inspire them to think creatively in the arts, the Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Programme, Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held a seminar titled “Media, Communication or Permaculture”, inviting Zhou Xiaohu, a pioneer artist in Chinese video animation, to share his creative ideas with students and teachers of MPU. He introduced how to create different layers of images between moving images and real objects, as well as the cross-border fusion of various media and technologies. The atmosphere was lively, and the teachers and students learned a lot from it.
Zhou Xiaohu’s works cover a wide range of fields, including video, animation, video installations, and computer games, etc. His works have been exhibited and collected by significant international art institutions and projects, such as Tate Modern (UK) and Performa (USA).
The Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Programme at FAD of MPU aims to nurture high-calibre media arts professionals through a curriculum accentuating multidisciplinary learning across arts, design, and technology. Students will develop their communication skills, international vision, intercultural understanding, and innovative thinking while acquiring media arts knowledge and skills in the areas of game interaction, technological art, and video narrative. Students are provided with internship opportunities to keep in pace with the latest developments in the cultural and creative industries, while respecting the balance between commercial and cultural values of media arts. Through blended learning on theory and practice, students are prepared to bring innovation to society through the media arts profession.
