MPU and SJM Host Logo Design Competition to Promote Cultural and Creative Development

To promote the development of cultural and creative industries in Macao, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) partnered with SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM), to host the “SJM SME Institution Logo Design Competition”, along with its award ceremony, supported by the Macao Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony took place at the MPU Academic Building, aiming to enhance collaboration between MPU and enterprises while providing a platform for a new generation of designers to exchange ideas and showcase their talents. This initiative also seeks to promote the region’s unique cultural characteristics and elevate the brand of “Made in Macao”.

The guests attending the ceremony included Ms Vivian Lei, MPU Vice-rector; Dr. Lai Mei Kei, Acting Dean of Faculty of Arts and Design; Ms Carmen Wong, Programme Coordinator of Arts in Design; and Ms Alice Lao, Head of Student Affairs Office. Representing SJM were Dr. Paul Hung, President of Security, Surveillance & Environmental, Social, and Governance; Ms. Monica Ng, Vice President of Supply Chain (Operations & Services); and Manager Michael Chan. Also, in attendance was Ms. Hoi Lok Man, Vice President of the Macao Chamber of Commerce. The champion will be invited to participate in the design and production of souvenirs, thereby enhancing her practical experience in the industry.

The competition has received multiple works from MPU students since it was launched, showcasing the creativity and design expertise of the participants. After a professional and vigorous selection, Cao Wei took the first place, Zhou Xiaoyu and Xu Jiali the second place, and Cui Jihao the third place. The Merit Awards went to Li Xinluan, Cao Wei (for another entry), Wang Tai and Wang Ruier. The competition not only highlighted the artistic talents of the participating students, but also demonstrated MPU’s success in cultivating quality talent for the cultural and creative industries.
