To meet the growing demand for professional skills in the field of social work services and to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of social workers and related individuals, the Centre for Continuing Education (CEC) of Macao Polytechnic University continues to offer two professional practice courses in social work in March 2025: “Outreach Social Worker’s Intervention Practices on Deviant Behaviour of Adolescents” and “Community Care – Programme Design Practice and Application”. The Macao Social Workers Professional Committee has recognized the courses as continuing education (CPD) activities for social workers, and they have been included in the Continuing Education and Development Programmeme of the Education and Youth Development Bureau. Social workers, related professionals and interested individuals are welcome to enrol.

The course content of “Outreach Social Worker’s Intervention Practices on Deviant Behaviour of Adolescents” includes the analysis of the causes of deviant behaviours of adolescents from the perspective of criminological theories, intervention theories for addressing deviant behaviours of adolescents, intervention techniques for different deviant behaviours of adolescents, common deviant behaviour and delinquent behaviours of adolescents in Macao, as well as the trend of change and the methods of prevention, and so on.

The course “Community Care—Programme Design Practice and Application” will analyse the demand for social welfare services in Macao, introduce the concepts of community care, STEEP, and SWOT, and discuss the role and development of institutions in the community. It will also focus on analysing and exploring the practical skills of community care Programme design and its application in the field of social work.

The courses are now open for enrolment with limited spots available. Applications can be made online or in person at CEC. Students who meet the course attendance requirements and pass the assessment will be awarded a certificate issued by CEC.
