MPU Community Care Programme Encourages Students to Participate in Diverse Community Activities
To encourage students to participate in community service and cultivate positive life values, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has organised the Community Care Programme, collaborating with Sheng Kung Hui St. Paul’s Church Macau, the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao, and 10 Fantasia. Through professional training, volunteer services and site visits, a series of community care initiatives have been carried out to encourage students to step outside the classroom, contribute to society with a spirit of dedication, and spread positive energy within the community.
MPU students have actively engaged in different activities, including homework tutoring classes for high school students, sharing sessions of university life, visits to elderly homes, caring for the elderly living alone, and learning about the unique culture and arts of the Macao community. These activities have provided students with opportunities to experience the diversity of the community, broaden their horizons and enhance their connections with community members. Through interaction with different communities, students have shared their stories, deepened their understanding of community needs, and gained valuable practical experiences.
Students who joined the Community Care Programme said that they gained a more in-depth understanding of the cultural diversity within Macao’s community, and they also realised the individual uniqueness and cultural differences with a sense of respect and acceptance, further enhancing their awareness of social responsibility.
