MPU FAD Hosts Lecture on “Design in Motion”
To enable students to gain a deeper understanding of the development trend of contemporary design and to broaden their creative thinking, the Bachelor of Arts in Design, Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), held the “Design in Motion” Seminar, and invited Professor Yui Takada from Tokyo Zokei University, Japan, and a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale(AGI), to be the guest speaker and to discuss the evolution and future trends of design in modern society with students and teachers of MPU.
In the seminar, Prof. Takeda shared his design experiences and unique insights into the ever-evolving nature of design: design would no longer adhere to the fixed forms of expression, as the advancements in technology and societal needs continuously drove its development and transformation. Takeda pointed out that creativity in design comes from a keen observation of daily life, that designers should embrace the changes in design with an open mind, break through traditional boundaries, actively absorb knowledge from different fields, and utilize interdisciplinary thinking to enrich the expression of their works.
At the same time, Prof. Takada shared his practical experience in graphic design, digital media and spatial design, demonstrating the unique visual effect through diversified design languages. He encouraged young designers to be adventurous, to remain curious about the world, to challenge themselves, and to find their own style and values in the design process. He believes that a truly outstanding design should not only be visually pleasing, but also have a depth of thought that resonates with the viewer.
The Bachelor of Arts in Design is committed to cultivating innovative talents within both humanities and aesthetics who have innovative thinking and practical application, good communication and international perspective.
