MPU Holds Eco-hiking Guided Tour Promote Students’ Understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals
To align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), cultivate a global perspective among students, and promote harmony between humanity and nature, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) organised an eco-hiking guided tour as part of its SDGs-themed activity series, aiming to enhance student’s physical health through mountain trekking and raise their awareness of the importance of sustainable development.
The eco-hiking guided tour centered on the theme “Life on Land”, one of the United Nations SDGs, with professional instructors guiding students through mountain trails to immerse themselves in nature’s beauty. Guided by specialist knowledge and interactive fieldwork, students explored the rich diversity of Macao’s local flora and fauna, including trees, flowers, insects and birds. They also gained deeper insights into forest protection and achieving sustainable human-environment harmony.
The students shared enthusiastic feedback about the eco-hiking guided tour, noting how it brought the United Nations SDGs to life and made the concepts more tangible for them. They highlighted the importance of ecological conservation and valued their contribution to conserving land ecosystems. The Student Affairs Office of MPU remains committed to integrating the principles of the United Nations SDGs into both education and extracurricular programmes, fostering student involvement in social responsibility and environmental conservation efforts, and promoting sustainable development.
