MPU Students Gain Fruitful Experience from Visiting Macao Customs
To strengthen university students’ awareness of legal knowledge and compliance, and to help them understand the responsibilities and significance of Macao’s law enforcement authorities, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) organised a visit to the Macao Customs Fleet . This visit encouraged students to step out of the campus, explore and experience various duties of Macao Customs Service of Macao Special Administrative Region, gain knowledge of maritime safety, and contribute to the safety of both the campus and the wider community.
The customs officers at the Macao Customs Maritime Inspection Department building introduced students to national security and maritime safety. They showcased a variety of diving gear and land and waterborne patrolling equipment, giving students hands-on experiences. Guided by the officers, MPU students boarded a patrol vessel and ventured out to sea, where they engaged in maritime patrols, rescue operations and enforcement work. This experience provided valuable insights into the management of Macao’s maritime territory, the roles and responsibilities of Macao Customs, and a deeper understanding of the city’s law enforcement authorities.
The participating students said that they found the event incredibly rewarding as it allowed them to gain deeper insights into the daily operations of Macao Customs. The experience heightened their awareness of the importance of maintaining society’s security and helped them recognise that social harmony and stability rely on the dedicated efforts of various departments. As young students of Macao, they expressed a sense of responsibility to contribute to the safety of society. The Student Affairs Office of MPU hopes to strengthen students’ awareness of the law and encourage self-discipline through a variety of enriching activities, fostering a collective commitment to creating a secure campus environment.
