MPU FAD Holds Seminar on Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning Strategies in Art

The Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held the “Interdisciplinary Thematic Learning in Chinese Basic Education Music Teaching Materials - Case Studies and Analysis” Seminar, and invited Prof. Yu Danhong from Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The participating teachers and students benefitted a lot from the seminar.

Prof. Yu Danhong introduced interdisciplinary learning in music education through cases in music materials, analyzing “the core literacy connotation of the new art curriculum standards” and “core competency goal orientation of interdisciplinary thematic learning”. She described the core concepts of interdisciplinary learning in music to cultivate students' artistic ability of integration, and point to the goal of academic education.

The MPU Master of Interdisciplinary Arts programme aims to develop professionals who are proficient in “Interdisciplinary Art Thinking” and “Interdisciplinary Practices in the Arts”. The programme integrates the interdisciplinary concepts of design, visual arts and music to develop postgraduate students' artistic and humanistic literacy, art and design-related research skills, as well as creative practice, exhibition planning and marketing management skills. Consequently, students can not only strengthen their professional abilities but also their own creative characteristics with the competence in management and marketing.
