MPU FAD Hosts “The Wisdom of Landscape” MPU Visual Arts Student Joint Exhibition for Chinese Painting 2025
In order to deepen the cultivation of talents in Chinese cultural education and to demonstrate the achievements of students' learning in Chinese landscape painting, the Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts Programme in the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held “The Wisdom of Landscape” MPU Visual Arts Student Joint Exhibition for Chinese Painting 2025. It showcased about 50 artworks from the students. The aim of the exhibition was to allow students to learn about the ancient people's observation and expression of nature through the copying of ancient paintings, and to experience the beauty of Chinese culture and tradition.
The attendees of the opening ceremony included Associate Professor Lai Mei Kei, Acting Dean of FAD; Mr. Lei Tak Seng, Director of the Chinese Artists Association; Associate Professor Tian Yuan, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts Programme of FAD, MPU; and Ms. Sun YiLi and Ms. Yang JiaXin, student representatives from the Visual Arts Programme of MPU. Acting Dean Lai Mei Kei, expressed that this was the first Chinese Painting exhibition since Visual Arts programme had run the new study plan and it showcased the students’ learning achievements.
The theme of the exhibition was landscape, together with the appreciation of contemporary masters, utilizing the vision of students to present the landscape scenes of Macao, their hometowns and journeys in conjunction with their lives. Those included Guilin's Elephant Trunk Hill, Hangzhou's West Lake, Wuhan's Enshi Grand Canyon, Sichuan's Jiuzhaigou, Mongolian yurts under the snow mountains, and “Macao Autumn” landscape.
The Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts of MPU aims to cultivate a unified humanistic experience, enrich artistic aesthetics and develop personal attributes, and to educate students to understand the importance of visual arts to society. Through organizing various activities, the programme promotes exchanges and cooperation between teachers and students and art professionals at home and abroad, broadens international perspectives, facilitates exchanges between Chinese and Western visual arts, promotes innovative development, and nurtures visual arts talents with creative, innovative abilities.
