Co-organised by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao, the awards ceremony for the “My Thoughts on Societal Security” Essay and Short Video Competition was held. Students from Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) delivered outstanding performances, vividly expressing their understanding of societal and national security through words and visuals. They secured a total of six awards, fully demonstrating Macao youth’s commitment to patriotism and love for Macao.

In the essay competition, MPU student Shao Zhurun’s work “A Safe Sailing for a Thousand Years” stood out with its profound theme, sophisticated writing style, and exceptional composition skills, earning her the Second Prize. Students Fan Zijing, Liao Tian, and Deng Jiawen each received Third Prizes for their unique interpretations of societal security themes. Student Hu Zongying was awarded an Excellence Award for her nuanced narrative work.

In the short video competition, the MPU student team comprising Li Heng, Lin Xinyu, Liu Antao, and Lee Chi Hang won an Excellence Award for their creative work “Our Ordinary Road.”

Award-winning Students Share Their Creative Insights

Essay Competition Second Prize winner Shao Zhurun expressed gratitude for MPU’s General Education curriculum, which provided systematic understanding of the holistic national security concept. Her metaphorical work “A Safe Sailing for a Thousand Years” draws inspiration from Macao’s fishing culture, comparing the nation to a boat where societal security forms the sturdy hull, collectively safeguarded by citizens to ensure stability.

Short Video Competition awardee Li Heng explained their work “Our Ordinary Road” employs campus life to examine societal security through micro-perspectives. Every ordinary moment contains countless contributions, showcasing how societal security turns daily life magnificent.
