MPU FAD Holds “Open Innovation” Human-AI Collaborative Music Creation Workshop

The Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Programme, Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), invited Assistant Professor Leung Chi Hin from the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts at The Education University of Hong Kong as a guest speaker to discuss with teachers and students the application and possibilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in music composition in the “Open Innovation: Human-AI Collaborative Music Creation Workshop”.

Leung Chi Hin shared with the teachers and students in the workshop how to explore the integration of AI tools into the music creative process, focusing on how they could be used to inspire, develop and refine musical ideas. Participants learned how to leverage AI music tools to generate initial concepts, build foundational tracks, and enhance their work using digital audio workstations to achieve their artistic goals.

As a composer, Leung Chi Hin’s works blend elements of East and West, reflecting his diverse cultural background and keen interest in timbral and textural explorations. Assistant Professor Leung has received numerous international awards, and his works have been showcased at prestigious events.

The Media Arts Programme of MPU FAD aims to nurture high-calibre media arts professionals via a curriculum accentuating multidisciplinary learning across arts, design and technology. Students develop their skills and creativity while acquiring media arts knowledge and skills in the areas of game interaction, technological art and video narrative. Through the blended learning on theory and practice, students are cultivated to bring innovation to society through the media arts profession.
