MPU teachers and students actively support National Games volunteer service

The 15th National Games, along with the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympics Games, are about to begin. In support of this major national sporting event and to further advance Macao’s sports development, teachers and students of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) have actively participated in related volunteer work. By engaging in multiple operational tests for various events, MPU is wholeheartedly contributing to the smooth running of the Games. This effort not only demonstrates the university’s dedication and passion for sports professionalism, but also highlights the vibrant spirit and sense of responsibility embodied by Macao’s youth.

Teachers and students from MPU have actively served as volunteers in operational tests for the Women’s Adult Volleyball and Karate events of the National Games. Ng San Fan, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports, visited the venues to offer encouragement, inspiring students to embrace the occasion with spirit and dedication as they support this nationwide celebration of sport. Through a blend of hands-on practice and theoretical training, MPU volunteers have deepened their understanding of the Games and its organisational framework, building a solid foundation for their roles in upcoming test events and competitions. Their enthusiastic involvement exemplifies the energy, responsibility and commitment of Macao’s youth toward enhancing the city’s sporting future.

Kuan Chi Hou, a teacher from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports at MPU, expressed his excitement and deep honour at witnessing the quadrennial National Games being held in Macao. As a local physical education teacher, he feels especially privileged to lead MPU students in volunteering for this landmark sporting event. He noted that the experience allows students to gain knowledge beyond the classroom, offering valuable insight into the logistics and significance of every role involved in the competition. He hopes students will stay actively engaged and give their full commitment, contributing their energy and passion to the development of sports in both Macao and the nation.

MPU student Zhang Lanxi shared how it was an incredible honour to be deeply involved in various operational test segments for the National Games. From ticket inspection and guidance training to sessions on competition draws and athlete check-in procedures, every task offered a first-hand understanding of the precision and professionalism required to run a major sporting event. She described the National Games as not only a grand celebration of athletic excellence but also a platform that unites communities and showcases both national vitality and the unique charm of the host city. As a young person, she believes it’s important to dedicate her skills and energy wholeheartedly to support the development of national sports.

MPU places strong emphasis on fostering students’ holistic development by enhancing their sense of social responsibility and practical capabilities. Through active participation in the National Games, students are encouraged to put their learning into action and contribute meaningfully as volunteers. MPU proudly supports the Games and actively motivates both faculty and students to take part in volunteer efforts. By doing so, they showcase the vibrant spirit of Macao’s youth and contribute to the success of this grand national sporting event—writing a new chapter in history together.
