Visiting Beijing for the anniversary grand parade, Rector Marcus Im expressed his honour in being part of this important event and witnessing the country’s progression towards strength and prosperity. He quoted from President Xi’s remarks that all Chinese nationals should remember history and cherish peace. Rector Im pointed out that the University had been striving to reinforce patriotic convictions and positive spirit among MPU students via hosting and participating in commemoration-related activities. In the future, MPU will always continue on a sure path to implement and promote patriotic education, deepening the understanding and reflection on history among the youth, guiding the students to cherish peace and take up national missions, showcasing the brilliance of the youth in Macao.

In the morning, live-streaming sessions of the “Grand Commemorative Assembly Marking the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War” were held across the city. Vice Rector Vivian Lei, along with deans and heads from various academic and administrative departments, led over 300 faculty members and students in participating in the sessions at multiple venues, including the sports pavilions at MPU and UM, and Macao Science Center. Many more students joined the live-streaming sessions all over the campus.

Student Lo Hio Tong, from the Bachelor of Social Sciences in Public Administration programme, expressed that watching the military parade filled her with awe and pride, making her cherish today’s hard-earned peace and prosperity even more than previously. She pledged to closely align her personal growth with national development, continuously improving herself through learning, practice and her contribution. Cheang Ka Lam, as student in the Bachelor of Business Administration programme, noted that participating in the events heightened her sense of national identity and pride, inspiring students to embrace their historical mission as youth in the new era and to promote patriotism and love for Macao.
