SLC-MPU Putonghua Proficiency Test Now Open for Registration
The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) is now accepting registrations for the December 2025 Putonghua Proficiency Test (PSC), jointly organized with the State Language Commission (SLC). The test will be held 11-13 and 15-17 December. All members of the public are welcome to register. The registration deadline is 19 October.
As the only Putonghua testing institution in Macao, MPU has consistently provided authoritative and professional Putonghua proficiency testing services to the local community for many years. Since 1998, MPU has collaborated with the SLC to conduct Putonghua proficiency testing, aiming to meet the needs of Putonghua teaching, training, and testing in Macao. Over the past 27 years, MPU has admitted approximately 8,800 test takers. In recent years, both the number of applicants and test scores have shown steady growth, reflecting the increasing enthusiasm for learning Putonghua and the growing demand for Putonghua testing in Macao.
The PSC is not only an important proof of an individual’s language ability but it also provides strong support for professional development in Macao’s education, public services, and other service sectors. To ensure test quality, MPU maintains long-term collaboration with the SLC and the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the Ministry of Education, having trained numerous highly qualified national-level test examiners for the city. Each test is jointly administered by national-level test examiners from both the mainland and Macao, appointed by the SLC, to ensure the objectivity and credibility of the scoring process.
The PSC has been popular in Macao. This year’s test will be held 11-13 and 15-17 December. Individuals interested in improving their Putonghua skills or obtaining language proficiency certification are welcome to register. Registration can be done through the QR code in the image or on the website of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Macao Polytechnic University. The registration deadline is 19 October. The registration link for secondary school students is for current high school students studying in Macao; the registration link for the general public is for all other individuals who wish to take the test.
