MPU Hosts High Spirited National Games Volunteers Cheering Meeting
To fully support the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has hosted National Games Volunteers Cheering Meeting, which gathered teachers and students working as one to support Macao SAR Government in hosting this high-level national multisport competition. This cheering meeting was held to energise all MPU volunteers, filling the venue with youthful energy and enthusiasm. Volunteers are committed to support the National Games with their actions and strengths, lighting up the Games and embracing the upcoming competition with a shared sense of excitement.
The “cheering ceremony” was conducted by the following guests: Pun Weng Kun and Fu Si Na, Head and Deputy Head of the Preparatory Office for the Organisation of Macao Competition Zone of the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, Teng Sio Hong, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of Macao SAR Government, Marcus Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU, Vivian Lei Ngan Lin, Vice Rector of MPU, Kenny Ng San Fan, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports, and the student representative, Lou Kit Long. Furthermore, all guests, teachers, students and volunteers united in a powerful chorus of chants with passionate and energetic slogans, demonstrating a collective fervour, which filled the venue with high spirits.
Professor Marcus Im Sio Kei, Rector of Macao Polytechnic University, stated that the university has been promoting the spirit of “love for the motherland, love for Macao”, and is dedicated to support the Macao competition events of the National Games. Since the government’s launch of the volunteer programme, MPU has actively coordinated teachers and students to engage in recruitment, training and test events. Students from different degree programmes have devoted themselves to the volunteer services, facilitating the smooth operation of the competition events of the National Games in Macao. MPU is also committed to cultivating sports talents by offering comprehensive programmes in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in the field of Physical Education and Sports Science with outstanding achievements. MPU athletes have represented Macao SAR in many events and have performed well in the National Games. Im Sio Kei further encourages all MPU athletes and volunteers continue to uphold their enthusiasm and professionalism in contributing their wisdom and strength to the sports industry of the country and Macao, as well as to carry forward MPU’s spirit of pursuing excellence. By showcasing the brilliance of Macao’s youth on the National Games fields, we are forging a new chapter in history.
After the cheering ceremony, a briefing session was held where team leaders and instructors from various groups, such as the venue management, marketing, competition coordination, anti-doping and IT support, introduced the overall workflow, procedures, working responsibilities, and key reminders to the volunteers. All attendees listened attentively and are fully prepared to embrace the upcoming official competition of the National Games to the best of their abilities.
