MPU Hosts Crime Prevention Week: Strengthening Campus Safety through University Police Community Collaboration

To welcome the new academic year, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) organised the “2025 Crime Prevention Week” under the theme “Embrace Positive Living, Foster a Secure Campus.” In collaboration with various government departments and social service organisations, the event featured a series of engaging and informative activities. These included themed promotional booths, the appointment of Anti-Fraud Ambassadors, the arrival of the Anti-Fraud Promotion Vehicle on campus, anti-fraud seminars, and a visit to the Judiciary Police Headquarters. Through the joint efforts of the university, police, and community, the initiative aims to comprehensively enhance students’ legal awareness and safety consciousness, thereby reinforcing a robust campus safety network.

University-Police-Community Collaboration Launches Crime Prevention Week at MPU

MPU officially launched its “2025 Crime Prevention Information Week” with a ceremony led by Acting Vice Rector Ng San Fan, joined by distinguished guests from various Macao SAR government departments and social service organisations. Attendees included Lee Sze Ngar, Head of the Intellectual Property Department of the Macao Customs Service; Chiu Chu Wai Man, Head of Community Policing and Public Relations Division of Judiciary Police; Mak Choi I, Head of the Education and Awareness Division of the Community Relations Department of the Commission Against Corruption of the Macao SAR; Wong Si Tim, Acting Head of Education, Publicity and Public Relations of the Fire Services Bureau; Lei Chan Hong, Deputy Superintendent of Public Relations Division of Public Security Police Force; Wong Ka I, Supervisor of Licensing and Technical Support Division of Labour Affairs Bureau; Wong Pui Pui, Senior Technician of the Office for the Prevention and Control of Smoking and Alcoholism of the Health Bureau; Cheok Chin Kao, Executive Secretary, Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau; Tam Tek Sang, Director of Free TEEN Zone of Bosco Youth Service Network; Cheang Weng Han, Activity Coordinator of Sheng Kung Hui Gambling Counselling and Healthy Family Service Centre

Appointing Anti-Fraud Ambassadors to Promote Campus Fraud Prevention

MPU continues to actively support the Macao SAR Government’s “Campus Anti-Fraud Vaccine Programme” by launching the 2025 “Eagle Eyes” Anti-Fraud Ambassador initiative. As part of Crime Prevention Week, the university held a swearing-in and appointment ceremony for the new ambassadors. The ceremony was jointly officiated by Chiu Chu Wai Man, Head of the Community Policing and Public Relations Division of the Judiciary Police, and Lao Weng Ian, Head of MPU’s Student Affairs Office. The newly appointed ambassadors embodied professionalism, youthfulness, and vitality, delivering their oath with confidence and conviction. Their pledge marked a commitment to fulfil their duties as role models, actively promoting fraud prevention awareness across campus and serving as the first line of defense in safeguarding personal property and safety.

Ongoing Campus and Community Activities to Build a Safe Environment

At the start of the new academic year, Student Affairs Office of MPU organised a variety of orientation activities in close collaboration with government departments and social service organisations. In addition to hosting themed booths and seminars on campus, the university encouraged students to engage with the broader community through field visits to the Judiciary Police Headquarters, gaining first-hand insight into law enforcement operations. These diverse on and off campus initiatives aim to deepen students’ understanding of crime prevention and enhance their awareness and ability to identify and resist fraud, contributing to the development of a safer and more informed campus environment.
