MPU Holds Recognition Ceremony to Promote Students’ Whole Person Development
To foster students’ whole person development and cultivate all-rounded talents with global vision, professional competence and a sense of social responsibility, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held the 2025 Whole Person Development Student Recognition Ceremony. Over 300 students were honoured and recognised for their outstanding achievements in whole person development, various programmes, and university teams. Members of MPU Administrative Board, deans of various faculties, and department heads attended the ceremony, filling the venue with enthusiasm and joy.
Vivian Lei Ngai Lin, acting rector of MPU, extended a heartfelt congratulation to the award recipients and introduced the parallel development on cultivation of students’ academic competence and whole person education in the university. MPU has been acclaimed in several academic reviews and teaching outcomes nationally and internationally in recent years. The university continues to play a distinctive role in promoting exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as in the field of Health Sciences and Sports, providing students with a robust platform for professional development. SHINE Whole Person Development Scheme of the MPU has garnered enthusiastic responses from students and was shortlisted for the QS Reimagine Education Awards. The SHINE scheme has demonstrated prominent effects on enhancing students’ competitiveness, broadening their horizons, and promoting their holistic development. Lei Ngai Lin encouraged students to remain actively engaged in activities both within and outside the campus and the university teams during spare time, illuminating their future paths and writing brilliant chapters for MPU with innovative thoughts and a sense of social responsibility.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to honour students’ outstanding achievements across various disciplines and competitions, as well as their energetic spirit in pursuance of excellence. These awards included the Most Active Participation Award for various programs, the Outstanding Team Performance Award, and SHINE Whole Person Development Excellence Award. Among the honourees, Zeng Shenghong, a student majoring in Bachelor of Arts in International Chinese Language Education, was awarded the prestigious “Gold of the Gold Awards” under the SHINE Whole Person Development Scheme. Zeng Shenghong shared that his active participation in activities and competitions within and outside the campus and joining the university team helped him to appreciate the importance of balanced and diversified development. He expressed his gratitude to the university for providing a valuable platform that fosters students’ holistic growth.
