MPU Students Secure Second Prize in Southern Lion Dance and Third Prize in Dragon Dance at National Games

The finals of the Dragon and Lion Dance events for mass performances took place between 11th and 13th November in Foshan Lingnan Mingzhu Gymnasium. Wong Chak Weng, a student from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme, and U Lok Kei, a student from the Bachelor of Physical Education programme at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), represented Macao in the events. Through exceptional teamwork and outstanding performances, they secured second prize in the Southern Lion Obstacle and third prize in the Dragon Dance Obstacle, bringing honour to Macao.
MPU Rector Marcus Im expressed his congratulations on Wong and U’s exceptional achievement, praising their outstanding performances, perseverance, team spirit, and willingness to overcome challenges. Their excellent performances have established an ideal model for all students and teachers and bring great honour to Macao sport development. Rector Marcus Im also encourages all MPU athletes to advance with determination and test their mettle in order to contribute to Macao sport development together.
The 15th National Games was held in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, with the finals of the Dragon and Lion Dancing events being held in Foshan, including eight categories: Freestyle Southern Lion Dance, Southern Lion Dance Obstacle, Traditional Southern Lion Dance, Dragon Dance Obstacle, Freestyle Northern Lion Dance, Compulsory Dragon Dance Routine, Freestyle Dragon Dance, and Freestyle Ribbon Dragon Dance. Teams from provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and Special Administrative Regions across the nation competed together, presenting a spectacular dragon and lion dance show to the audiences.。
