Dr Jagannath Patil is the immediate Past President of Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN). An internationally recognised quality assurance professional, Dr Patil serves as Adviser at National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India (NAAC) and is the longest serving President and elected Board member of APQN for over 3 terms. Dr Patil has served as consultant on various national and international missions including that of UNESCO and World Bank. His key assignment was as consultant on UNESCO/ World Bank mission to Association of African Universities (AAU) to help with the capacity building initiative of the emerging African QA Network. In June 2012, Dr Patil was invited as panel chair to review the regulatory Framework of the Tertiary Education Commission, Mauritius.

As an adviser to NAAC, Dr Patil has coordinated the assessment and accreditation exercises of about 1,000 higher educational institutions. He has visited about 40 countries on academic assignments and made presentations and/or conducted workshops in quality assurance. He has also been a moderator of APARNET, an online community of UNESCO Bangkok. As APQN President he served on various working groups of UNESCO and launched a number of QA initiatives, which include the APQN Quality Awards, APQN Exchange Programme, MoU with Commonwealth of Learning, Canada, MoU with European Consortium of Accreditation, and Quality publication series. Other recent APQN initiatives led by him included the launching of the Asia Pacific Quality Information Portal and the Asia Pacific Quality Assurance Register (as the founder chair) as part of decennial agenda.

Dr Patil has authored and edited publications on accreditation and quality assurance under the auspices of NAAC , APQN and other international fora. Among various recognitions, he is recipient of the Endeavor India Executive Award (2007) presented by the Australian government and the Plaque of Honour (2013) presented by ONESQA, Thailand. Dr Patil is the first Asian expert elected as President of INQAAHE (2015-2016). He is leading initiatives to mark 25 years of INQAAHE.
