Abstract

My talk will begin by defining service-learning in the context of tertiary education. I will then explain several criteria, against which the quality of service-learning (S-L) can be assessed. These include 18 quality principles. I will discuss how performance against these 18 quality principles can be assessed and enhanced.

Author Profile(s)
The author, Robin Stanley SNELL, is Director of Service-Learning and Professor of Management at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. He has conducted research on how service-learning can be an effective platform for the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes, relating to the outcome domain of service leadership. His associated papers have appeared in the Asian Journal of Business Ethics and the Journal of Management Education, as well as in some edited books on service leadership education. He has also conducted discipline-based research on business ethics and organizational learning, which has been published in highly reputed journals, such as the Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, Human Relations, and the Journal of World Business.
