Abstract What we do as teachers will always leave a mark on your students, especially if it is something positive that inspires them in their lives. There is already a lot of research and best practices for successful teaching-learning processes. However, the specific context of each university, or even the unique characteristics of the students, interferes with its practical implementation. In this study, we present the report of an experiment performed at Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI). It is a case study about the use of active methodologies in the development of team projects, carried out in an interdisciplinary way. At a time when the Chinese Government is increasing relations with Lusophone countries, the interaction between students of different nationalities stimulates the multiculturalism. This work reports a project between the innovative Sino-Lusophone Trade Relations (SLTR) course, made up of Chinese students, and the Public Administration (PA) course, with Cape Verdeans, Angolans, Brazilians and Portuguese students.
Results show that students were very successful in terms of assessment results. They indicate that, despite the great challenge, they enjoyed the experience and were motivated. They say they have acquired technical knowledge, but many other skills, and also showing a preference for active methodologies over traditional classroom systems. |
