Orientation Day 2025/2026

Following the opening ceremony, an orientation day is taking place. Academic support and administrative units are going to introduce campus services, facilities, and student activities to help new students settle into university life. Additionally, a representative from the Judiciary Police is going to deliver a crime prevention seminar on “Anti-Telecommunication Fraud Crime Prevention.” Through real-case analysis and interactive Q&A, the session aims to raise awareness of fraud prevention and enhance campus safety.

Anti-Scam Promotion Vehicle On-Campus Publicity

The Judiciary Police is going to deploy their “Anti-Scam Promotion Vehicle” to the main campus, using interactive games to enhance new students’ ability to recognise fraudulent activities.

Student Activities Fair 2025

On-site, there are three dedicated zones:

  • (1) Student Recruitment Area - Bringing together various interest societies and competitive teams;
  • (2) SHINE Whole-Person Development Scheme – Showcasing initiatives including the Creative Planning Talent Development Programme and “Eagle Eyes” Anti-Fraud Ambassador scheme;
  • (3) Students’ Union Recruitment Stand – Offering one-stop advisory services for student organisations.

Newly arrived international students are guided through Macao’s historic districts, experiencing first-hand the unique blend of Chinese and Western cultures and diverse cultural atmosphere. This initiative aims to help international freshers settle into campus life.

A weekly flag-raising ceremony is taking place during term time to foster students’ sense of national identity and belonging, ensuring the tradition of patriotism and love for Macao continues to flourish. Please click here to register for the weekly ceremonies taking place in September.

Crime Prevention Week 2025

Campus crime prevention awareness is strengthened through multiple initiatives, focusing on:

  • (1) Collaborative themed exhibition stalls with the Judiciary Police, Public Security Police, Customs Service, Fire Services Bureau, Commission Against Corruption, and Macao social service organisations, using interactive experiences to promote crime prevention knowledge;
  • (2) An appointment ceremony for “Eagle Eyes” Anti-Fraud Ambassadors to launch campus fraud prevention campaigns;
  • (3) Educational visits to the Judiciary Police School to understand criminal investigation work, combining theory and practice to enhance students’ crime/fraud awareness and response capabilities.

Mid-Autumn Festival Blessing Event for Hostel Students

The event features traditional lantern riddles, mooncake tasting, and the distribution of symbolic reunion lanterns. An interactive session allows hostel students to write greeting cards under the lantern glow and participate in puzzle-solving games – preserving Mid-Autumn customs while bringing festive warmth to students away from home.

Unlocking Scholarship Opportunities

The event comprises two sessions: First, several distinguished scholarship recipients share practical insights on academic planning, time management and research work, along with tips for balancing academic achievement with extracurricular commitments. Subsequently, Student Affairs Office representative outlines various internal and external scholarship opportunities, including post-award obligations and performance expectations, helping students understand the key elements for receiving a scholarship.

National Flag Ceremony Training at Military Barracks

The National Flag Team is going to attend professional flag-raising ceremony training at the Taipa Barracks of the People’s Liberation Army Macao Garrison. Under the expert guidance of garrison officers, they systematically study the cultural significance of the national flag, standardised flag-raising procedures, and ceremonial guard formations, thereby enhancing the team’s professional standards.

Language Proficiency Training Series

The training series comprises two specialised courses:

  • (1) “Cantonese with Confidence” Intensive Workshop - Combining immersive cultural activities with practical language sessions to help non-local students quickly acquire everyday Cantonese and adapt to campus life in Macao;
  • (2) Business Portuguese Course – Focusing on commercial communication, professional document writing and cross-cultural business practices, systematically developing students’ professional language skills and international business competence for Portuguese-speaking work environments.

Healthy Campus Programme

The programme includes:

  • (1) Mental health assessments for new students, enabling early prevention, adaptation support, and emotional assistance;
  • (2) A “Mental Health Awareness Fair” in October to mark World Mental Health Day, featuring interactive booths hosted by local social service organisations to raise awareness of holistic wellbeing;
  • (3) Art Healing Workshops using various creative mediums to help students relax and relieve stress;
  • (4) Recreational sports classes to encourage developing regular exercise habits and fostering positive lifestyle attitudes.

Creative Talent Development Programme

The programme includes:

  • (1) “Graphic and Text Production” Workshop - Teaching current industry-standard techniques for creating compelling visual promotional materials;
  • (2) “Event Planning Masterclass” - A practical course covering proposal writing, execution documentation and impact evaluation - delivering complete event management training;
  • (3) “Videography & Editing” Skills Course - From fundamental filming techniques to basic editing software operation, equipping students with essential video production skills.

Community Care Programme

The programme includes:

  • (1) “Blood Donation Drive” - Promoting health awareness while putting the value of giving into practice;
  • (2) “Stray Angels Caring Day” - In collaboration with the “Everyone Stray Dogs Macau Volunteer Group,” this initiative encourages students to engage with vulnerable animals through visits and volunteer work;
  • (3) “Christmas Joy for All” - Partnering with the Macau Down Syndrome Association, this event enables students to bring festive warmth to children with special needs during the holiday season.

The 4th Sino-Lusophone Cultural Festival

Under the core theme “Sino-Lusophone Fusion‧Celebrating Diversity Together”, the 4th Sino- Lusophone Cultural Festival presents a spectacular international cultural exchange. This carnival-style celebration showcases the vibrant blend of Chinese and Portuguese cultures through:

  • (1) Traditional Chinese ethnic dances
  • (2) Performances of Portuguese Fado folk music
  • (3) Brazilian Capoeira martial arts displays
  • (4) African traditional song and dance performances alongside international food stalls representing these rich cultures.

Lecture on Fire Safety and First-Aid Knowledge

Representatives from the Macau Special Administrative Region Fire Services Bureau are going to deliver practical training covering:

  • (1) Fire cause analysis
  • (2) Daily fire hazard inspections
  • (3) Fire escape strategies

Additionally, experienced paramedics will demonstrate trauma management protocols and basic first aid techniques."

National Games Knowledge Online Challenge

In preparation for the 15th National Games – jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao – an online quiz competition engage students through rapid-fire questions, deepening their understanding of:

  • (1) The Games’ historical development
  • (2) Featured sporting events
  • (3) Unique characteristics of the host cities

This interactive format makes learning about this major multi-sport event both educational and entertaining.

“Herb Garden” Ecological Project

A “Herbal Garden” is established in designated areas of the main campus, managed by members of the Sustainable Development Society. This initiative combines education, resource efficiency and student participation to teach about sustainable agricultural practices, resource conservation and biodiversity importance. Serving as a microcosm of local plant diversity, the garden contributes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The programme features:

  • (1) “Effective Communication Workshop” - Introducing core principles of impactful communication to enhance students’ interaction quality and interpersonal skills;
  • (2) “Social Etiquette Workshop” - Developing professional social conduct and personal branding to prepare students for global leadership roles.

This project recruits alumni and student volunteers to teach in remote regions of Guangdong Province. By joining efforts among MPU members, we aim to give back more to society while fostering students’ whole-person development and citizenship.
