MPU Hosts “Fire Safety Knowledge” Seminar to Enhance Safety Awareness Among University Students
Fire safety is everyone’s concern. To effectively raise university students’ awareness of fire safety, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University organises an annual “Fire Safety Knowledge” lecture, aiming to improve students’ daily fire prevention awareness and emergency response capabilities. The lecture invites representatives from the Fire Services Bureau of Macao SAR and Macao Electric Power Company Limited to explain and share knowledge about fire prevention, emergency rescue and electrical safety. It is designed to equip students with correct fire self-rescue methods, electrical safety guidelines, as well as basic emergency rescue procedures.
During the lecture, representatives from the Fire Services Bureau use typical cases to explain the main causes of fires and easily overlooked fire hazards in daily life in a simple and easy-to-understand way. They also focus on demonstrating the correct use of common fire-fighting equipment, as well as the principles and key tips for escaping in case of fire. Afterwards, paramedics introduce emergency rescue channels, basic first-aid knowledge and wound treatment procedures. Representatives from the power company provide professional interpretations on the safe operation guidelines, daily maintenance and precautions of electrical and electronic equipment. Students who have attended the lecture say that the content is both professional and practical, and they have realised the importance of fire and electrical safety in protecting personal safety and property. By mastering fire self-rescue knowledge and emergency response measures, they can reduce the risk of fire accidents and better protect themselves and others in emergencies.
The Student Affairs Office of MPU stated that the university always prioritises students’ safety, and this lecture is an important part of building a “Safe Campus”. By integrating high-quality resources from government and professional institutions, and through knowledge popularisation activities, the university instills in students the awareness of integrating fire safety into daily life, effectively improves their comprehensive prevention and emergency response capabilities, and provides a solid guarantee for building a safe and harmonious campus environment.
