MPU Hosts Business Portuguese Conversation Course to Enhance Students’ Linguistic Competence
With a view to leveraging Macao as a commercial and trade cooperation service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, cultivating university students to become comprehensive talents with an international perspective, and promoting whole-person development, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) hosted the Business Portuguese Conversation Course. Through an integration of language and business, students are able to acquire an application of business language and to enhance well-rounded ability, which assists them in preparing for their academic and professional journey.
The Business Portuguese Conversation Course focuses mainly on the integration between practical application and the Portuguese language. Through instruction and practice in business conversation, common vocabulary, grammar, CV writing, self-introduction, etc., the course helps students acquire business language and enhance their writing and communication abilities. In addition, the engaging interactions and conversation practices in classes help students to gain a practical application of Business Portuguese in a progressive and step-by-step manner, which allows them to apply the knowledge learnt from the course in real-world scenarios and expands their career development opportunities.
The participating students stated that the course helped them to strengthen their language abilities and confidence in language use. Through active engagement and interaction in the classes, and the step-by-step guidance of the teacher, they were able to experience the subtleties of Business Portuguese. The course also cultivated a climate of continuous learning, providing a substantial journey in the Portuguese language.
The Student Affairs Office, which organised the course, stated that through organising diverse activities, they will continuously cultivate comprehensive talents with an international perspective and bilingual in Portuguese and Chinese. In addition, they will consistently promote whole-person development, assisting students to integrate into national development, which consolidates a robust foundation for their comprehensive growth.
