MPU holds “Legal Education Seminar” to strengthen students’ awareness of crime prevention and law-abidingness

To enhance university students’ awareness of crime prevention and law-abidingness, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) invited representatives from the Customs of Macao Special Administrative Region to deliver a “Legal Education Seminar.” It aimed to help students establish correct values, strengthen their understanding of the rule of law, and cultivate them into law-abiding and self-disciplined citizens.

During the seminar, the representatives from the Customs of Macao Special Administrative Region introduced the types of intellectual property, relevant laws and regulations, common infringements, and their potential impacts, thereby raising students’ awareness and emphasis on intellectual property protection. Subsequently, the representatives elaborated on the Foreign Trade Law and shared practical experiences in combating “parallel trading” activities. By explaining the common operational methods, involved goods, and potential risks of “parallel trading”, students gained a deeper understanding of the consequences of such activities, further reinforcing their awareness of abiding by the law.

Participating students said that the seminar content was practical, enlightening and highly valuable. The Student Affairs Office aims to continue promoting legal education and positive values through such initiatives, striving to cultivate a new generation of youth with a strong sense of social responsibility.

Distinguished guests attending the seminar included: Ip Lap Pun, Head of Information and Risk Management Division of Macao Customs; Au Tak Yan, Customs Inspector of Intellectual Property Research Division; Lam Chi Man, Customs Inspector of Press and Public Relations Division; Lao Weng Ian, Head of MPU’s Student Affairs Office.
