MPI Students Watch Documentary to Learn about the History of Macao

To promote the traditional values of love for the motherland, and love for Macao, the Student Affairs Office of the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) recently organised for students from different programmes to watch “Macao: Back to Common Roots” narrative film, jointly created by the Chinese Culture Development Promotion Association of Macao and MGM. Through watching the documentary, students learned about the history and culture of Macao and establishing the correct historical and world view.

The film is based on the documentary ”Macao: Back to Common Roots”, which was released on the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the SAR Government. In this film, the history of Macao is portrayed with music and narration. Miss Yan, a Master’s student of the Chinese-Portuguese Translation and Interpretation Programme, said that the film was vivid and rich in its presentation, and it told the story of Macao in such a short time, which enhanced her understanding of Macao. Also, Miss Li, a student of the Chinese-English Translation and Interpretation Programme, appreciated the meaning of this event, and stated that as a Macao resident, she should learn more about the history of her home. She learnt a lot about the origins of street names, the causes of historical events, and the ups and downs of Macao over the centuries through the documentary.
