Symposium Notice
To explore aspects of governance in higher education in terms of both theory and practice and disseminate cutting-edge research into the construction of a modern university system, and with the aim of promoting the development of Macao's university sector, an international symposium on ‘The Construction of a Modern University System - University Governance in Theory and Practice’ is to be held from October 29th – 31st, 2012 at Macao Polytechnic Institute. Colleagues are cordially invited to participate in the Symposium.
Symposium Themes
- What is a modern higher education system? The history and evolution of higher education systems.
- Strengthening governance in higher education – coordinating the relationships between different stakeholders.
- Comparison of the governance systems and characteristics of higher education systems in different countries and regions.
- Internal governance structures of universities.
- The selection of university leaders and their professional development.
- Coordination and balance of academic power and administrative power.

Fee
No fee will be charged for registration or meals. Accommodation will be provided for accepted participants. Travel expenses to and from the Symposium and insurance will be the responsibility of the participant.

Paper Format
Chinese Papers (Word format) should include:
- Paper title, author’s name, institutional affiliation, job title, academic degree, research interests, contact address, e-mail; (author’s information should be placed in a footer on the front page)
- Abstract: less than 300 words for both Chinese and English abstracts,
- Key words: less than 5 phrases
- Main Text: Word count should not exceed 10,000 words;
- Main Text (10,000 words or less).
- Font: 新細明體 (traditional) for Chinese, Times New Roman for English; Font Size: 12
- Spacing and Borders: Single line spacing; no art for border;
- Titles of tables should be placed on the top, titles of graphs/pictures should be placed underneath. Source information should be written underneath tables and graphs, font size 10.
English Papers (Word format) should include:
