Professor of Macao Polytechnic University edits special issue of international journal to promote language teaching in the Greater Bay Area

A special issue of the Asian-Pacific Journal of Second and Foreign Language Education (APJEF) on "Translanguaging Language Policy Planning in the Greater Bay Area of China and Beyond (GBA LPP)" has been published, with Associate Professor Wen Zhisheng of Macao Polytechnic University as Guest Editor-in-Chief, and the foreword is written by Li Wei, Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of London. It is dedicated to a comprehensive review and in-depth analysis of major language policy planning in the Greater Bay Area of China and Beyond (GBA LPP) and related language measures in the classroom, using the innovative translanguaging practice in language education as a theoretical guiding framework. The studies will provide advice and suggestions for the formulation of future language policies.

The Journal of Asia-Pacific Second Language and Foreign Language Education, founded in 2015, is an open-access journal published by Springer Nature and edited by Wen Xu, a professor at the School of Foreign Languages, Southwest University. The journal integrates theoretical and applied research and promotes multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and supra-disciplinary research in the fields of second language acquisition, applied linguistics, and foreign language education. The special issue of "Translanguaging Language Policy Planning in the Greater Bay Area of China and Beyond (GBA LPP), focuses on language education policies in the Greater Bay Area and includes eleven articles from scholars at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hang Seng University, Polytechnic University of Macau, University of Macau, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and South China Normal University. The articles collected in this special issue show the milestone development of language policies and planning in the major cities of the Greater Bay Area from many different perspectives, and provide an analytical review of issues related to language policies and planning in the Greater Bay Area and some neighboring cities in Guangdong Province. It also reflects the language use of residents in the Greater Bay Area from a realistic perspective, demonstrating their identity and attitudes toward learning and using multiple languages in daily life.
