Student Achievers Celebrate Holistic Development

MPU students continue to excel on the international stage, outperforming in competitions worldwide in areas ranging from Wushu sports and bowling, business management, to innovative technology. Their outstanding achievements reflect professional excellence and the spirit of teamwork.

Global Management Challenge: A Strategic Battle of Minds

MBA Students Li Pengyang, Wang Zequang, and Chen Xiaodan, under the guidance of Associate Professor Hsiao Yu Ling, showcased their financial and strategic planning expertise at the World Management Challenge in New Delhi, India. Competing against over 1,000 teams worldwide, they secured third place, applying classroom knowledge to real-world business simulations. Their success underscores MPU’s practical, experience-based approach to education.

Research Competitions: Driving Innovation and Academic Excellence

Xiong Chengpeng and Long Nuoer, MSc students in Big Data and Internet of Things, claimed double championships at the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. Their research, which applies deep learning to analyse animal behaviour patterns, has introduced new perspectives to academia. This accomplishment demonstrates MPU students’ strength in technological research and the power of holistic education in fostering innovation and critical thinking.

WorldSkills Competition: Expertise in Electrical Installations

At the 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, often referred to as the “Olympics of Skills”, student Ho Chi Tim demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship, earning the Medallion for Excellence in Electrical Installations. Competing against 1,500 participants from nearly 70 countries across five continents, Ho’s success is the result of five years of rigorous training. His achievement highlights Macao’s growing presence in global skills competitions.

Wushu Championships: Promoting Sportsmanship and Cultural Heritage

MPU’s Wushu athletes continue to make waves on the international stage. Master’s graduates Sou Cho Man and Huang Jun Hua, alongside undergraduate students Kuong Chi Hin and Wong Weng Ian, secured one gold, three silver, and four bronze medals at the 10th Asian Wushu Championships. Their momentum carried on to the 3rd World Cup of Wushu Taolu in Japan, where Sou Cho Man, Huang Jun Hua, Wong Kui Sin, and Wong Weng Ian brought home another gold and three bronze medals. They uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and promote Chinese culture while setting new milestones for Macao’s sports scene.

Bowling World Cup: Macao’s First-ever Medal

Undergraduate student Gloria Celestina Chiu, representing Macao’s team, helped secure Macao’s first-ever women’s team bronze medal at the International Bowling Federation World Cup 2025. Reflecting on her journey, Chiu shared that overcoming challenges along the way has strengthened her determination to pursue excellence in sports.

True brilliance is more than just about trophies or the spotlight – passion, dedication, and relentless effort count. With a clear vision of their goals, MPU students continue to redefine the meaning of holistic development, leaving their mark across diverse fields on the global landscape.
