Across international competitions, artistic showcases, and academic contests, MPU students have continued to distinguish themselves, demonstrating both strong disciplinary competence and a diverse range of capabilities. These achievements reflect not only individual dedication, but also the effectiveness of the University’s holistic approach to talent development. In recent years, MPU has placed emphasis on strengthening students’ technological literacy alongside their humanistic awareness, providing multiple pathways for growth and nurturing a new generation of globally minded graduates.
Sporting Excellence Bringing Honour to Macao
The Sports Merit Medal, awarded by the Macao SAR Government, recognises outstanding contributions in the field of sport. In January 2026, this honour was conferred upon two members of the MPU community: Fong Man Hou and Lou Wai Kit. At the 15th National Games, Fong Man Hou, together with his teammates, secured Macao’s first-ever gold medal in the men’s karate team kata event, with alumnus Lou Wai Kit also part of the gold medal-winning team.
In addition, Lao Cheok Hei and Chan Chon Ip, Bachelor’s students in Physical Education, represented Macao at the 2026 Asian Triathlon Youth and U23 Championships, where they achieved first and second place respectively in the men’s 20-24 age group. These accomplishments highlight that, despite its size, Macao possesses athletes capable of competing at the highest international level. Their perseverance and determination continue to showcase the strength of Macao sport on the global stage.

Musical and Artistic Achievements on the Global Stage
MPU students have also achieved notable success in the arts. At the “2026 ASAF Asian Student Arts Festival International Music Competition”, Zong Xiaohuan and Cai Shiyi, from Bachelor of Arts in Music, competed among more than 3,000 participants from over ten countries and regions, securing first place and second runner-up respectively in the Open Classical Vocal category. These results bring international recognition to Macao’s vocal artistry, with the awardees expressing gratitude for the University’s support and reaffirming their commitment to further excellence.
In the field of visual arts, students have likewise demonstrated outstanding creativity. Qin Ziya, Chan In Tong, Zhu Wanwan, and Tang Pui Lam, from Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts, were awarded Gold at the “Macao Higher Education Contemporary Visual Arts Exhibition” for their collaborative work Narrating Ice. Using ice as a central medium, the work evokes childhood memories across different regions, with its melting process symbolising cultural convergence and resonance.
Chan In Tong further received the Best Creativity Award in the Integrated Arts category at the “Boundless: Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Art Competition” for her work Metal Sheets, Plants, Crystals, selected from over a thousand submissions. Extending from personal memory to broader regional dialogue, these works reflect the perceptive insights and expressive potential of a new generation of artists.

Academic Competitions Reflecting Civic Awareness
MPU students have also demonstrated strong engagement with issues of national and societal importance. In the “Safeguarding National Security through Artificial Intelligence” essay and short video competitions, jointly organised by the Macao SAR Government and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government, a total of 15 MPU students received awards. Participants represented a wide range of disciplines, including business administration, design, e-commerce, and physical education, illustrating the breadth of the University’s interdisciplinary training.
Deng Jiawen (Business Administration), was awarded first prize in the undergraduate category of the essay competition for her work “Navigating New Frontiers with Intelligence: National Security in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Youth Responsibility.” Wu Qianxun (Design) received third prize, while Zhang Luoqi (E-commerce) and Kou Ching Teng (Physical Education) were awarded merit distinctions.
In the short video competition, several student teams were recognised for creative works examining the relationship between artificial intelligence and national security from diverse perspectives. In the themed essay competition “For National Liberation and World Peace,” Fan Zijing (Visual Arts) and Zhang Luoqi (E-commerce) were each awarded second prize. Through both written and visual expression, students articulated thoughtful reflections on national issues, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility characteristic of the younger generation.
These accomplishments underscore not only the commitment and capability of MPU students, but also the University’s sustained focus on high-quality talent development. In recent years, MPU has actively promoted interdisciplinary teaching and research, introduced micro-credential programmes, and strengthened international research collaboration. Such initiatives provide students with broader platforms for development, equipping them with the skills and perspectives required to engage confidently on the global stage.
