Overview

In this report, we share our progress and achievements towards our sustainability goals, as well as provide detailed information on our sustainability initiatives, including our research, education, collaborations, stewardships, outreach and community engagement efforts.

In 2021/2022, the COVID-19 pandemic continued to impact Macao. MPU provided a wide range of positive actions to support the MPU community and the society as a whole to overcome the challenges encountered, including physical and mental health support (SDG 3), NAT volunteering (SDG 3), quality online education (SDG 4), and training tailored for the financially challenged (SDG 1). Moreover, our consistent practices of promoting cultures in innovative ways (SDG 11) is well recognized. The creative project “A Journey of Experimenters” conducted this reporting year at our Faculty of Arts was shortlisted in THE Awards Asia 2023.

We understand that partnerships and education is essential points to help us move forwards on sustainability goals. In 2022, we joined the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI) of the United Nations and the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), UK. We continued to be an institutional member of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) and the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies of Higher Education (INQAAHE). We have also incorporated a new learning module “Sustainable Development” in our undergraduate curriculum as a systematic means to promote the awareness of sustainable development amongst the youth.

We recognize the importance of our role in promoting environmental, social and economic sustainability. We hope that this website will provide valuable insights into our sustainability strategy and performance, and we welcome any feedback or suggestions for improvement. Together, we can work towards a more sustainable future.
