Lei Zheng is the Dean and Professor of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine at Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the First Military Medical University in China. His research focuses on the development of novel technologies for tumor liquid biopsy, experimental diagnostics of thrombosis and hemostasis, and intelligent laboratory testing in clinical and educational research.

Prof. Zheng serves as the Executive Chair of the Education Committee at the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV), Vice President of the World Chinese Association of Laboratory and Pathological Physicians, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Medical Association’s Laboratory Medicine Branch, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association’s Laboratory Physicians Branch, Vice Chair of the Chinese Society for Extracellular Vesicles (CSEV) under the Chinese Research Hospital Association, and Chair of the Laboratory Physicians Branch of the Guangdong Medical Doctor Association.

Prof. Zheng has led over 10 national and provincial-level research projects, published 80+ SCI-indexed papers in top-tier journals (e.g., Advanced Science, Journal of Extracellular Vesicles, Angewandte Chemie International Edition), authored/co-authored 8 textbooks and academic monographs, and filed 15 national invention patents. He has been awarded the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress First Prize, two First Prizes for National Teaching Achievements, and ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally (Stanford University’s World’s Top Scientists List).
