Paulo Osório is a Full Professor of Linguistics at the Universidade Aberta and a Researcher at the Center for Linguistics at the University of Lisbon (CLUL).

After a brief period in Secondary and Polytechnic Education, he has built a university career spanning over two decades, which began in 1999 at the University of Beira Interior. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Humanities (Portuguese, Latin, and Greek) from the Faculty of Letters at the Portuguese Catholic University (1994) and a Master's degree in Portuguese Linguistics from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Coimbra (1998). He completed his Doctoral exams in 2002 and his Aggregation exams in 2009, both at the University of Beira Interior, where he became a Full Professor of Linguistics through an international competition in April 2021. His research focuses on Historical Linguistics, the History of the Portuguese Language, Portuguese Language Variation, and Portuguese as a Non-Native Language. He is a member of both international and national scientific organizations in the field and served as President of the International Association of Portuguese Linguistics from 2014 to 2017. He is a Corresponding Member of the Brazilian Academy of Philology and a member of the Board of the Association of Linguistics and Philology of Latin America.
